As part the exhibition Through the Needle at We Make Wycombe Internationally renowned artist Derek Ogbourne presents:
Abstract Painting Workshop
Abstraction is a way of creating art that has become the cornerstone of the modern artistic movement. Emerging in the late 19th century, it marked one of the greatest shifts away from realism in art history. Pioneered by artists such as Paul Cézanne and Mondrian and influenced by the rise of photography, abstraction encouraged artists to explore colour, shape, form, and emotion rather than simply represent the visible world.
Join us for a fun, lively, and hands-on workshop suitable for all ages and abilities. Together, we’ll explore three different approaches to abstraction through a series of creative exercises.
Working with acrylic paint on paper, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment freely and create your own abstract artworks. All materials are provided. Children below14 need to be accompanied by an adult, Derek Ogbourne has been teaching for 40 years at all levels and has Enhanced DBS.
Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on.
