Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as her husband’s parents set out for New York to have the marriage annulled.
Anora won five awards at the Oscars, including for best actress. Anora is a young woman from Brooklyn who experiences a Cinderella story when she meets professionally and then marries the son of an oligarch. But the happiness of the young couple is threatened by the thugs sent when her husband’s parents set out to break up the relationship. Deborah Ross in the Spectator says, “I know you won’t believe it is as good as everyone is saying it is unless you hear it from me so here you are: yes, it is as good as everyone is saying it is.”
