Event Description:
Home is a word we think we know until someone asks us what it means.
Chalk is an evening of true, unscripted stories told by ordinary people, the kind of stories that don’t often get a room but deserve one. We gather in a circle, sit close to the ground, and listen.
This first gathering takes ‘Home’ as its theme. Where is it? Was it somewhere you left? Something you carry? Something you’re still building? There are no wrong answers and no experts, only people willing to speak honestly from their own experience.
The evening opens with painter Arunthathi Ratnaraj, whose work will be on display throughout the night. Arunthathi will share her own story of home - the story behind the paintings, and the question that runs through them. Her work sits at the place where memory, belonging and place meet, and it sets the tone for everything that follows.
Arrive from 7pm. There will be iced tea, floor cushions, and time to settle in before the first story begins at 7.30pm.
_Chalk takes its name from the hills beneath us, the ancient chalk ridge that runs under High Wycombe, through Amersham, Wendover and beyond. Old ground. Good ground for stories.

Chalk is looking for 4-6 storytellers for its first gathering on Friday 7 August in High Wycombe. Stories should be true, personal, and told without notes. They don’t need to be polished, they only need to be honest.
