Event Description:

The concert programme celebrates the famous actor David Garrick (1717-1779) and his connections with France and the Huguenots, Protestant refugees who fled France to escape religious persecution.

David Garrick, an English actor, is the subject of a portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds’, which is on display at Waddesdon Manor as part of the Saved for the Nation exhibition. Garrick was a life-long supporter of the Huguenot community, and the music will be interspersed with short narratives bringing this aspect of his history to life. The Huguenots transformed cultural life in England, and this concert showcases the work of several distinguished composers. The concert takes place at the Dairy set within the grounds of Waddesdon Manor.
