Event Description:

Join Dew Dance as we celebrate ‘Roots, rhythms and rituals’ at Bucks Open Weekend 2026. 

Life doesn’t often give us permission to just be — to watch something beautiful, to move without judgement, to feel connected to other women without an agenda. Embrace is an invitation to pause, witness and reconnect: with rhythm, with roots, and with each other.

Rhythms: Dew Dance will be performing live contemporary dance, showcasing short pieces that celebrate all we’ve created during 2026. 

Roots: We’ll share insight into when each work was made and its connection to the events, artists and themes it embodies.

Rituals: Following the performance, you are invited to move with us in a short, accessible dance and movement workshop. No previous experience is needed—this is open to all ages and abilities. 

Expect joy, connection and a space to express yourself freely in a safe and supportive environment. Created for women—come alone or bring a friend.

Cost:

This is a pay what you can event - your contribution helps make more events possible in the future and helps us pay our artists fairly. If you have the means to do so, then we suggest £5-£8 per woman attending.

Who can attend:

This event is for women aged 18 and over. If childcare is what’s holding you back from attending, please email us at [email protected] before the event — we’re happy to arrange for a child to accompany you where needed.

What to expect:

The morning begins with a live contemporary dance performance, where you’re welcome to simply sit back and watch. Afterwards, there’s an optional movement workshop — gentle, guided and paced for complete beginners. You can take part as much or as little as feels right; there’s no pressure to join in if you’d rather stay seated and observe. 

What to wear:

Come as you are - no special attire needed. Comfortable clothing and shoes you can move freely in is ideal if you’d like to join the workshop.

What to bring:

Just yourself! You’re welcome to bring a water bottle if attending the workshop or in case of hot weather.

We believe everyone can dance, and we’re passionate about bringing the freedom of movement to people of all ages and abilities. Our work often takes place in unexpected, everyday settings — care homes, libraries, museums and community spaces — because we want dance to feel accessible and meaningful wherever people already are.
