Join us for an extra-special family writing workshop this summer.

Step into the magical landscapes that inspired Roald Dahl’s stories and let your creativity bloom!

Join us for a one-of-a-kind family writing workshop this summer, led by the talented local poet Will Burns. Escape the Museum and venture into the enchanting countryside of Great Missenden, where the natural beauty will spark your imagination (as it did Roald Dahl’s). Together, you’ll explore the woods and rolling hills, diving into fun, interactive activities that bring stories to life.

By the end of the workshop, your family will have crafted a unique, heartfelt poem—a treasured keepsake to look back on for years to come. Whether you’re seasoned wordsmiths or just starting out, this experience promises laughter, inspiration and a deeper connection to the world around you.

Location

The woods and meadows that Roald Dahl walked in. Step into the natural spaces that inspired Fantastic Mr Fox and Danny the Champion the World. We’ll head out of the Museum together and after a short walk reach the beautiful Chiltern countryside.

Meet Your Guide: Will Burns

Will Burns is a published poet based in Wendover, deeply rooted in the beauty of nature. His work has been celebrated for its soulful depth and lyrical brilliance:

• Named one of Faber & Faber’s New Poets (2014)

• Recognized as one of The Observer’s Top 10 Debut Novelists of 2021

• Praised by Max Porter as “a soulful English poet of the kind we don’t make enough of.”

With Will’s guidance, your family will uncover the magic of storytelling in the most inspiring setting.

£25 per person in addition to Museum entry (adult £13.95, child £9.95)
