Event Description:
By Laurie Christie (Art by Laurie) with support from Alfriston School students.
Launching 8th February 10am with our new Art for wellbeing Club
Keep in Touch is a tactile exhibition inviting you to connect through your hands as much as your eyes, offering a quiet language beyond words. The selected works some old, some new are shaped by emotion and memory, and are there to be gently explored, not just observed. Touch becomes a way of listening: to texture, feeling, and the human need for closeness. In a world of screens and distance, this exhibition asks you to slow down, look with your heart, and reconnect.
Artist – Laurie Christie, Art by Laurie – I am a multi-tasking artist, meaning I do not stick to one medium or style. How can I when there are so many wonderful ways to express oneself? My go to mediums are paper, ink, watercolour, acrylic and wool and I like to experiment with what I can do with them. I have painted eggshells to t-shirts and I’m looking forward to lots more in the near future. I also write books. I am finishing a three-part series on a young man and a giant salamander in a land where it rains most of the time. I have written an adult fable where everyday animals bring a focus on misogyny and abuse. I have written about women in the bible told by the women’s point of view and I have several other ideas in process. There are so many things to create and so many ways to do so – why limit yourself to one thing?
