Event Description:

MK Walkers FC is Milton Keynes’ first walking football club, founded in February 2014 through a Make a Difference Foundation initiative. The club promotes physical activity and social connection for older adults by offering a slower-paced, low-impact version of the beautiful game. Training sessions take place every Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on the astro pitch at Woughton on the Green, with new players invited to try their first session for free. Walking football offers numerous health benefits, including reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, improving mobility, and supporting mental wellbeing. MK Walkers FC is proud to support men’s mental health awareness and has been recognised by CALM for its efforts. The club also hosts an annual inter-club charity match using walking football rules, raising over £5,000 to date for Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS). Both men’s and women’s teams are active, with recent victories in the 2024 Charity Cup and Women’s Championship. The club provides a welcoming environment where the focus is on exercise, enjoyment and building friendships. Beyond football, MK Walkers FC is deeply rooted in community values, inclusivity and support.
