Event Description:

Connect with the natural heritage of Buckinghamshire in this hands-on textile workshop exploring local history and sustainable craft. Participants will work with fabrics pre-dyed using native plants sourced from the local landscape, uncovering the roots of traditional regional dye practices. We will then delve into the ancient ritual of textile waxing using locally sourced Buckinghamshire beeswax, paying homage to the county’s rich, historic relationship with apiculture and traditional beekeeping. This workshop offers a tactile, creative space to reimagine craft traditions and take home your own sustainably finished textile piece.

The workshop is designed for a parent or carer to work together with a child of eight years or older (no upper age limit).

One ticket covers a parent/carer AND child. It will be run by Rachel Jones, Grymsdyke Farm’s former artist-in-residence.

About Rachel Jones:

Rachel is an artist and researcher who has worked on a wide range of projects in the cultural sector, including with the Royal College of Art, the Bartlett School of Architecture, London Design Festival and the Barbican Centre.
