Event Description:

This practical course introduces a range of approaches to expand your understanding of landscape painting. Making a series of studies using a variety of drawing and painting approaches, you will respond to the theme of landscape and a sense of place. You will work directly on location in central Aylesbury in the morning and in the Queen’s Park Art Centre studio in the afternoon to become more confident in making choices for developing your own artworks.

Participants will need to bring an A4 or A3 sketchbook and basic drawing materials for use outside (eg. pencils, charcoal, pastels), plus a camera (either digital or part of a phone). You may also want to bring a portable, foldable stool if you have one.

For work back in the studio, basic painting materials (paints and brushes for either watercolour, acrylic or oil) will be needed plus either a canvas or board to paint on or watercolour paper (300gsm).

The Centre has some materials and paper that can be used on the day although quality and condition cannot be guaranteed. There is also an art shop onsite that sells the required materials. Please contact [email protected] if you have any queries.
