Event Description:

This is the first of 5 concerts which together form the West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival 2026. The Festival, which is now in its 16th year, was founded by the world renowned Viola player Lawrence Power. He grew up in this area and every year he returns to present this concert series.

The five concerts span five centuries and will be performed by some of the finest musicians in the world of chamber music today.

Writing about the Festival, Lawrence comments:

“In this year’s five concerts we will be exploring the idea of “TIME”. I never cease to be amazed by how deeply music and time are intertwined and it’s inspiring to remember that in Ancient Greece astronomy, music, maths and physics were all equally studied. The Quadrivium as it was known brought these four disciplines together with equal significance in an attempt to understand the mysteries of the universe.  Music unfolds in time and time is made tangible through music.”
