In their programme The Language of Flowers the Marian Consort explore flowers and gardens in musical settings. The Marian Consort is an award-winning British Vocal Ensemble presenting bold and thrilling performances of music across the centuries and noted for ‘performances that glow with golden purity and soul’. It was founded and is led by director Rory McCleery.
The centrepiece of the programme is Benjamin Britten’s five playful Flower Songs which are placed amidst settings of the Song of Songs featuring music by Renaissance composers including Tomas Luis de Victoria and Francisco Guerrero. The concert also includes contemporary works and a world premiere by composer Amelia Clarkson.
