If you’re a coffee enthusiast in search of the perfect brew, Buckinghamshire has no shortage of charming cafés to explore. From Scandi-inspired hideaways to rustic farmyard retreats, we’ll take you through the county’s best coffee spots, where exceptional coffee, delicious bites, and inviting atmospheres await.
Whether you’re after a peaceful corner to work or a lively place to catch up with friends, there’s a café in this list for every occasion.
Coopers, Marlow
Starting with one of our absolute favourite coffee shops, Coopers is tucked away on a business estate just five minutes from Marlow’s town centre. It combines industrial East London aesthetics with top-notch coffee. The décor features rough-edged charm, communal tables, and retro touches.
Millar’s Eatery, based in Windsor, takes over the kitchen, serving inventive dishes like the Mumbai Toastie – Bombay aloo with spiced chutney and tomato on sourdough. Open from 8.30am Tuesday through Sunday, Coopers is a must for those who appreciate chic vibes and fantastic food.
The Grocer at 15, Amersham
A favourite in Amersham for elevated brunching, The Grocer at 15 serves beautifully crafted dishes such as burrata with cashew nut pesto and heritage tomatoes on sourdough, alongside its legendary banana pancakes.
Its sister café, The Grocer at 2, offers an exquisite array of homewares and foodie gifts. This is the place for an elegant brunch experience.
NORSK, Haddenham
For a true taste of Scandinavian charm, NORSK in Haddenham, Mid Bucks, is an absolute gem. This award-winning café, known for its serene courtyard with reclaimed wood furnishings and an olive tree centrepiece, is a perfect spot for sunny days.
Open for breakfast and lunch, the ever-changing menu includes delectable Scandi-inspired dishes such as smoked salmon and poached egg on rye bread, and their famously indulgent cinnamon buns. While you’re there, peruse their curated selection of homeware and gifts – you’ll be hard-pressed to leave empty-handed.
The Rowing Room Café, Henley
Nestled within the River & Rowing Museum’s idyllic water meadow, this café offers tranquil surroundings paired with exceptional coffee. Now managed by Lee Goodwin, known for his Velolife cafés, the quality of coffee here is second to none. Don’t miss the daily bakes – a perfect treat before or after a scenic riverside walk.
The Cheese Shed, Nettlebed
Adjacent to Nettlebed Creamery, this café is heaven for cheese enthusiasts. The menu revolves around its famed cheese toasties, made with award-winning local produce. Pair your toastie with a pastry, kefir smoothie, or coffee.
The large barn-style space and courtyard provide a relaxed and rustic setting.
Monkey Puzzle, Thame
Another one of our favourites, Monkey Puzzle boasts one of the most charming café gardens in Thame. Their salted caramel brownies are a must have, and the welcoming space even hosts garden yoga sessions. Canines are welcome, so bring your furry companion for a relaxed outing.
Barn Kitchen, Peterley Manor Farm
The Barn Kitchen at Peterley Manor Farm offers a slice of Provençal elegance in the heart of Buckinghamshire. The gravelled garden terrace, adorned with lavender-filled planters and rustic furniture, is the perfect backdrop for dishes like smoky white bean shakshuka or decadent pancake stacks. Cakes are a highlight here, and the venue is dog-friendly – everyone’s welcome.
