Princes Risborough Has Halloween Mischief, Movie Snacks And An Elton John Singalong On The Way
2026-10-22T06:53:21Z
Autumn is officially the season of wondering what to do with the children, buying snacks you absolutely do not need and realising you’ve somehow agreed to leave the house three weekends in a row.
Fortunately, Princes Risborough Town Council has a few things up its sleeve. There’s a Halloween trail involving a witch and a suspiciously mischievous cat, a double bill of family films, an evening of Elton John classics and the town’s annual Remembrance Sunday service.
Here’s what’s coming up in Princes Risborough – and what deserves a spot in your diary.

1. A Halloween Trail With A Missing Spell And One Very Unhelpful Cat
Saturday 31st October | Princes Risborough High Street
A witch has lost the words to her magical Halloween spell, her cat is up to mischief, and apparently the only people capable of sorting this mess out are the local children. Sounds about right.
Little Witch Willow and her black cat, Boots, need some help recovering the missing words. The Halloween Trail will send families around Princes Risborough High Street, hunting for hidden letters in shop windows and solving clues to unscramble the spell.
It’s a nice way to get the children out for a wander, particularly if they’ve reached that stage of half-term where even the television has started to look concerned.
Trail forms can be collected from 10am at The Haunted House in the Library Meeting Room at Princes Risborough Library. Return a completed form by 1pm and the children will receive a free treat. Consider it a modest reward for their services to witchcraft.
Costumes are very much encouraged. Capes, pointy hats, skeleton outfits – the more theatrical, the better. Just bring a pen or pencil, because even the most convincing little vampire will struggle to complete a word puzzle using sheer intimidation.
The Need-To-Know

2. Halloween Weekend, But Make It A Cinema Trip
Sunday 1st November | Brushwood Suite, Wades Centre
The Halloween sugar rush doesn’t have to end on Saturday. The following afternoon, Princes Risborough Town Council is putting on two family film screenings, which means you can entertain the children without having to invent another elaborate activity involving cardboard, glitter and your last remaining nerve.
First up is Coco (2017), Pixar’s colourful, music-filled adventure set around the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations. It’s followed by Corpse Bride (2005), Tim Burton’s delightfully spooky animated film. One is a good choice for a family afternoon; the other is practically begging to be watched with the lights slightly dimmed.
The screenings take place at the Brushwood Suite at Wades Centre, and tickets are refreshingly affordable. Advance tickets cost just £1 per person, plus a booking fee, or £2 on the door if spaces remain.
There’ll also be a bar open at the venue, with Playback selling popcorn and pick ’n’ mix. So yes, there is a very real possibility that the sweets will cost more than the film. Cinema economics at their finest.
Screening Times
- Coco: Doors open at 1pm; film starts at 1.30pm.
- Corpse Bride: Doors open at 4pm; film starts at 4.30pm.
Tickets are limited, so book ahead rather than gambling on getting in at the door.

3. Elton John Is Coming To Princes Risborough (Well, Almost)
Friday 6th November | Brushwood Suite
Dig out your imaginary oversized sunglasses. Princes Risborough is getting an evening of Elton John classics, performed live by award-winning tribute artist Paul Bacon.
The set will feature familiar favourites including I’m Still Standing and Your Song. You know the ones. The songs you confidently sing in the car, only to discover at a red light that the person in the next vehicle has heard every single note of your performance.
It’s a chance to enjoy some live music without having to trek into London, pay a fortune for parking or spend the following morning recovering from a late train home.
Tickets cost £12 per person, plus a £1.20 booking fee, and are available online.

Our advice? Take a friend who knows the words to I’m Still Standing. You’ll need someone to carry the backing vocals.
4. Remembrance Sunday
Sunday 8th November | Princes Risborough Town Centre
Remembrance Sunday is a time for the town to pause, reflect and honour those who have served and sacrificed. The annual procession and service, hosted by Princes Risborough Town Council, brings residents together to pay their respects.
The procession leaves Princes Risborough Library on Bell Street at 9.30am and heads to St Mary’s Church for the civic service at 10am. At 11am, the community gathers in the Marketplace for the Act of Remembrance and the two-minute silence.
Following the service, organisations are invited to lay their wreaths at the memorial.
It’s a meaningful occasion and an important part of the town’s calendar.
The Morning’s Schedule
- 9.30am: Procession departs from Princes Risborough Library on Bell Street.
- 10am: Civic Service of Remembrance at St Mary’s Church.
- 11am: Act of Remembrance in the Marketplace, including the two-minute silence.
Residents are welcome to join the community in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
