Lillingstone Pick Your Own, Buckingham
Lillingstone is the proper pumpkin-picking article: a family-run farm where you head into the field and choose your own rather than simply selecting one from a suspiciously neat pile. Peterley Manor Farm, Great Missenden
Peterley is one of those places that makes you want to put on a wax jacket and start pretending you know what you’re doing with a vegetable patch. Its 2026 pumpkin patch opens from 3 October, with around 15,000 home-grown pumpkins in various shapes, sizes and varieties.
Entry is free; there’s plenty of parking and wheelbarrows are provided, while the farm also has pop-up food vans and its Barn Kitchen. Dogs are welcome on leads, which is handy because pumpkins apparently make excellent props for photographs of dogs looking slightly baffled.
Odds Farm Park, High Wycombe
Odds Farm has gone all in on pumpkins. Its 2026 Pumpkin Festival includes weekends throughout October, evening family events and October half-term, with children able to pick a pumpkin from the farm’s home-grown patch. There’s also carving, animals, play areas, tractor rides and the sort of autumn activities that make a two-hour visit mysteriously turn into six.
There’s even an adults-only Pumpkin Festival night on 16 October, complete with pumpkin picking, carving, entertainment, fire and LED performances, mini golf and a silent disco. Because apparently adulthood was a mistake and we can all agree to reverse it for one evening.
Widmer Farm Park, Lacey Green
Tucked between Aylesbury and High Wycombe, Widmer Farm Park is a smaller, more manageable option if the prospect of a huge pumpkin extravaganza fills you with the sort of dread usually reserved for soft-play birthday parties. Its 2026 Pumpkin Patch runs through October and is included with farm-park admission.
You can combine the pumpkin patch with the animals and farm-park activities, and there’s a café for the inevitable coffee-and-cake negotiations. It’s also nicely placed for a Chilterns wander afterwards if you’re not quite ready to go home covered in pumpkin mud.
Hogshaw Farm & Wildlife Park, Near Buckingham
Hogshaw takes a slightly more theatrical approach. During its School of Witchcraft & Wizardry Halloween event from 24–31 October, visitors head into the pumpkin patch to collect a pumpkin “specimen” for decorating, alongside potions, owls, creepy crawlies and the rest of the Halloween programme.
It’s less “quietly pick a pumpkin from a field and contemplate autumn” and more “Harry Potter accidentally opened a farm park”. Which, frankly, has its charms. The wider farm has animals, nature trails, play areas and food, so there’s plenty to occupy the family beyond the pumpkins.
Mead Open Farm, Billington
Mead Open Farm is another strong half-term option, with its Freaky Fun Fest running from 24–31 October 2026. The pumpkin patch is part of the ticket and each paying child gets a free pumpkin to take home, subject to availability.
And there’s rather more going on than pumpkins: circus performances, two Halloween mazes, trick-or-treat activities, play areas and the farm’s usual animals. Essentially, the pumpkin is your souvenir from a day when you attempted to tire out a child and discovered that this is apparently impossible.
Mead Open Farm – Freaky Fun Fest
Kew Little Pigs Farm, Amersham
Now for the wildcard. Kew Little Pigs combines pumpkin picking with what is arguably a considerably more compelling attraction: miniature pigs. Its 2026 Halloween Half Term runs from 24–30 October and includes piggy pet-and-play, a Halloween trail and pumpkin picking and decorating.
There are also Halloween Extravaganza sessions on 31 October and 1 November, when you can meet the pigs and goats, follow the trail and pick and decorate a pumpkin. It is, in short, the only place on this list where your pumpkin-picking companion may be significantly cuter than your pumpkin.
The Patch MK, Milton Keynes
The Patch MK is the big one. Its 2026 pumpkin season features more than 600,000 pumpkins and squash and over 100 varieties, alongside photo spots, entertainment, marshmallow toasting, food and drink.
