Science, Explosions and Curiosity

The season kicks off with Ministry of Science Live on Saturday 14 February. Hailing from London’s West End, this show combines high-energy demonstrations with educational experiments. Expect hands-on science, fascinating facts, and plenty of dramatic effects to engage curious minds of all ages.

Storybook Classics on Stage

The Enormous Crocodile - The Musical

For younger children, several beloved stories return to the stage. The Tiger Who Came to Tea, based on Judith Kerr’s classic book and adapted by David Wood, runs from Friday 27 – Saturday 28 February. Sophie, her mummy, and a very hungry tiger bring songs, surprises, and teatime mishaps to life in a production aimed at pre-school audiences.

Later in the spring, The Enormous Crocodile – The Musical plays from Friday 1 – Sunday 3 May. Roald Dahl’s colourful tale follows the mischievous crocodile and his jungle friends in a fun, adventurous show that celebrates courage and cleverness.

K-Pop Comes to Aylesbury

For fans of the global music phenomenon, K-POP All Stars will perform on Thursday 23 April. Featuring hits from Blackpink, BTS, Twice, NewJeans and others, the show combines choreography, visuals, and live music to offer a taste of the genre’s worldwide appeal.

Horrible Histories: The Fun Side of History

Horrible Histories - The Fun Side of History

History enthusiasts can enjoy two Horrible Histories shows on Friday 15 – Saturday 16 May, each using 3D effects to bring events to life:

  • Terrible Tudors explores the reigns of Henry VIII, Bloody Mary, and Elizabeth I, blending historical facts with humour and spectacle.
  • Awful Egyptians examines Pharaohs, pyramids, and Ancient Egyptian life in an entertaining way that mixes stories, visuals, and audience participation.

Both productions aim to make history engaging and memorable, with plenty of laughs along the way.

Interactive Shows in the Norman Bragg Studio

Adventures in Science

The theatre’s Norman Bragg Studio is hosting more interactive shows for families this spring.

  • Adventures in Science: The Magical Mr West (Monday 6 April) features illusions and comedy, with the help of a mischievous cartoon crow.
  • WiFi Wars (Saturday 7 March) is a technology-driven game show where audiences compete via smartphones in quizzes and challenges. Suitable for ages 6+, performances are at 2pm and 4pm.

From storybook tigers causing teatime chaos to crocodiles plotting in the jungle, from mummies and Tudors wreaking historical havoc to K-Pop stars bringing the house down, there’s never a dull moment at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre this spring. Whether you’re dragging reluctant kids out of the house or sneaking in for your own dose of chaos and comedy, there’s something here to make everyone laugh, gasp, and maybe even dance in the aisle. It’s springtime fun you (and the kids) won’t forget!
