Support Local Month Terms & Conditions

2026-09-20T07:07:07+01:00

These terms and conditions apply to the Support Local Month prize draw (“Prize Draw”) organised by The Bucks Guide (“The Bucks Guide”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

The Prize Draw is supported by Buckinghamshire Council (“Bucks Council”). Bucks Council is not the promoter of the Prize Draw and is not responsible for its administration, prizes or operation.

1. Eligibility

1.1 The Prize Draw is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over, except employees of The Bucks Guide and their immediate family members or anyone professionally connected with the administration of the Prize Draw.

1.2 We may require proof of age, identity or eligibility before awarding a prize.

1.3 By entering the Prize Draw, you confirm that you are eligible to enter and agree to these terms and conditions.

2. How to enter

2.1 Entry is free. No purchase is necessary.

2.2 To enter, participants must scan an official Support Local Month QR code displayed at a participating business and complete the entry form as instructed.

2.3 Participants may enter at multiple participating businesses. Each valid entry submitted through a participating business’s official QR code will count as one entry, unless the relevant promotional material states otherwise.

2.4 Participants do not need to purchase anything from a participating business to enter.

2.5 Entry forms must contain the information requested and be submitted before the Prize Draw closes.

2.6 Entries submitted after the closing date and time will not be counted.

2.7 We reserve the right to reject entries that are incomplete, illegible, fraudulent, duplicated in breach of these terms, generated automatically or otherwise appear to have been submitted in an attempt to manipulate the Prize Draw.

3. Prize Draw period

3.1 The Prize Draw opens at 00:01 on 1st November 2026.

3.2 The Prize Draw closes at midnight on 30th November 2026.

3.3 Entries received outside this period will not be eligible.

4. Prizes

4.1 The prizes available as part of the Prize Draw are donated by participating businesses and may include goods, services, experiences, vouchers or other prizes.

4.2 Details of individual prizes, including the donating business and any applicable restrictions or expiry dates, will be provided on the relevant Support Local Month promotional materials.

4.3 Prizes are subject to any reasonable terms and conditions imposed by the business donating the prize, provided those terms have been communicated to the winner.

4.4 Unless otherwise stated, prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative.

4.5 The Bucks Guide is not responsible for any additional costs associated with using a prize unless expressly stated otherwise. This may include travel, accommodation, food, equipment or other costs.

4.6 If a prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside our reasonable control, we reserve the right to replace it with a prize of equal or greater value, where reasonably possible.

4.7 The Bucks Guide does not guarantee the availability, suitability, quality or performance of a prize supplied by a third-party business. Any issues relating to the provision or use of a prize should first be raised with the business that donated it.

5. Winner selection

5.1 Winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries received during the Prize Draw period.

5.2 Each valid entry will have an equal chance of being selected.

5.3 Where a participant has submitted multiple valid entries, each entry will be treated separately in the random selection process.

5.4 The number of winners will depend on the number and type of prizes available and will be stated on the Support Local Month webpage.

5.5 The random draw will be carried out by The Bucks Guide using a random selection process.

6. Contacting winners

6.1 Winners will be contacted using the contact details provided when entering the Prize Draw.

6.2 We will make reasonable attempts to contact each winner.

6.3 If a winner does not respond within [7] days of our first attempt to contact them, or if they are found to be ineligible, we reserve the right to select an alternative winner.

6.4 We are not responsible for a winner failing to receive notification because they provided incorrect or incomplete contact information, or because the notification was filtered or blocked by their email provider.

7. Prize collection and delivery

7.1 The method of prize collection or delivery will depend on the prize and will be communicated to the winner.

7.2 Where a prize is supplied directly by a participating business, the winner may be required to contact or visit that business to claim the prize.

7.3 Any expiry date, booking requirement or other restriction applicable to a prize will be communicated to the winner where applicable.

7.4 A prize will not normally be replaced if a winner fails to claim or use it within any stated validity period.

8. Personal data

8.1 Personal information provided when entering the Prize Draw will be processed for the purposes of administering the Prize Draw, including validating entries, selecting and contacting winners and arranging the fulfilment of prizes.

8.2 Personal data will be handled in accordance with The Bucks Guide’s Privacy Policy:

https://thebucksguide.co.uk/policy/privacy

8.3 Entry into the Prize Draw does not require participants to agree to receive marketing communications.

8.4 Where marketing consent is offered, it will be presented separately from entry into the Prize Draw. Participants can choose whether or not to provide marketing consent.

9. Publicity

9.1 We will not publish a winner’s full personal details without their consent.

9.2 Where permitted by law, we may publish a winner’s first name and general area (for example, “Sarah from Aylesbury”) for Prize Draw publicity, unless the winner objects.

9.3 If a winner does not wish their name or general area to be used for publicity, they can notify us when contacted.

10. Fraud and misuse

10.1 We reserve the right to disqualify any participant where we reasonably believe that they have attempted to manipulate the Prize Draw or gain an unfair advantage.

10.2 This includes, but is not limited to:

  • using automated systems to submit entries;
  • submitting false or misleading information;
  • using another person’s identity or contact details without permission;
  • interfering with QR codes, entry forms or the Prize Draw system;
  • attempting to submit entries other than through the official entry mechanism; or
  • otherwise attempting to circumvent these terms.

11. Changes or cancellation

11.1 The Bucks Guide reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the Prize Draw where circumstances outside our reasonable control make this necessary.

11.2 Where reasonably possible, any significant change will be communicated through The Bucks Guide website or relevant Support Local Month promotional channels.

12. Liability

12.1 Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

12.2 Subject to clause 12.1, The Bucks Guide will not be responsible for any loss, damage, failure or disappointment arising from participation in the Prize Draw or use of a prize where such loss or damage is outside our reasonable control.

12.3 The Bucks Guide is not responsible for technical failures, network problems, website outages or other circumstances that prevent an entry from being successfully submitted, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Promoter

13.1 The promoter of the Prize Draw is: The Bucks Guide

13.2 Bucks Council supports Support Local Month but is not responsible for the Prize Draw, its administration or the provision of prizes.

14. Complaints and enquiries

14.1 Questions or complaints relating to the Prize Draw should be sent using our contact form at thebucksguide.co.uk/contact

15. General

15.1 By entering the Prize Draw, participants are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.

15.2 If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

15.3 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from the Prize Draw, subject to any mandatory rights the participant may have under applicable law.
