About
The Pednor Bottom Loop is a beautiful circular walk from Chesham that takes you out into classic Chiltern countryside, passing through rolling farmland, hedgerows and quiet rural lanes. The route is well known for its wide skies and excellent birdlife, with frequent sightings of Red Kites, Buzzards and Kestrels overhead. It’s a rewarding walk for anyone wanting an easy escape from town into open countryside. You can learn more about this walk from excellent photographer Harry Rice here.
What You’ll Find
On the walk you can enjoy:
- Open Chiltern landscapes with far-reaching views
- Excellent bird of prey spotting, especially Red Kites
- Quiet lanes and footpaths through farmland and countryside
- Seasonal wildlife, including deer along hedgerows and field margins
Visiting Tips
The route is relatively gentle and is often chosen as a “mud-free” option in wetter months, though sturdy footwear is still recommended. Allow time to pause and scan the skies for birds of prey, and consider taking binoculars or a camera. The walk links easily with Chesham town, making it a great option to combine countryside and café stops in one outing.
